Safety Advisories
Work Area Requirements

The following figure shows a typical Lumera automated SPE system.

  • The system should be placed on a stable laboratory bench or fume hood with an open space of at least 80 cm wide x 50 cm deep (31.5" x 19.7") to provide access to the front and side of the instrument for fraction collection and sample loading.

  • There should be space underneath the bench for the placement of waste containers. The instrument must be elevated well above the waste container to allow for proper drainage.

  • Proper ventilation is required if toxic and volatile buffers are to be used.

Power Requirements

Refer to the following power requirements when preparing your laboratory

Electrical Safety

Follow all local electrical safety requirements in preparing you laboratory

Power Source

All systems require a dedicated power source. The receptacles from this power source should be accessible to the operator for easy disconnection from the source. If you are unsure what power source comes with your system, please contact support@promochrom.com.

Plug/Receptacle Types

Laboratory Location

Plug Type

Canada, United States, Mexico, Japan

NEMA 5-15P

Other

CEE 7/VII "Schuko" 1.6A

Environmental Requirements
Air Quality

Ensure that the laboratory is not exposed to excessive dust

Humidity

Ensure that the relative humidity of the laboratory is between 20% and 80%, noncondensing

Air flow

Ensure that air flow from heating or air-conditioning diffusers is not directed on the system.

Temperature

The ambient temperature must be from 2 to 40 C (35.6 to 104 F).

Waste Collection Requirements

The waste management system is a gravity-driven drainage system that effectively collects and removes any waste.

There should be space underneath the bench for the placement of waste container. The instrument must be elevated well above the waste container to allow for proper drainage.

To maintain proper drainage and leak control, ensure that the system is on a stable, level, surface. The waste tubing must continuously be on a downwards angle to avoid flooding the system.
