Understand what this procedure does and what you need

Use this guide to replace an unavailable tool on your MPS Robotic and preserve its original name/number in the system.

Background:
When a new tool is introduced to the MPS robotic, it receives a new number.
As (prep)sequences and methods are linked to specific tools (e.g. USM 3), introducing a new tool (e.g. USM 5) may require adaption of the (prep)sequence or method.
If the new tool replaces an old tool, you can assign the numbering of the removed tool to the new tool, which omits the need of adjusting the (prep)sequence or methods.

  • Requirement:

    • MPS firmware version 2.4.2 or higher.

    • A new tool of the same type as the one that should be replaced.

    • Only tools of the same type can be replaced (e.g. USM for USM, PSM for PSM etc.).

  • Outcome: the replacement tool will take over the old tool's identity (number) in the system. This avoids the need to adjust methods or sequences.
